Two Horses Picture Feedback

Joanne has sent me this charming picture of two horses and has asked for any pointers as to how she can improve this painting. I have to say that this is a very competent picture and would grace any wall however there are one or two tips I can give to turn this very good picture into a great one.The background has a slightly dark edge see the black arrows, the light background colour needs to be taken right up to the edge of the image.The ear on the right side of the foal need to be clarified at the moment it blends with the colours on that part of the adult horse, see yellow circle.The contrast between the foal and the adult horse where I have indicated with the white arrows needs to be tempered down at the moment it is too strong.
