Making Slight Changes to this Black Springer will make all the difference

Maggie sent me this delightful painting she has just completed and has asked for my feedback."‘I would appreciate feedback on my portrait of my black and white springer. I tried to use your Labrador gloss technique on the head, and a bit of the Siamese cat technique on the chest fur, but struggled with the ears."Maggie is right about the ears they do need to be more defined although I can see why she found this tricky.The lighter line intended to separates the head from the ears should be removed, this does not help as the hair continues beyond this point (see black arrow).Creating the waves for the ears is difficult but I would suggest that Maggie checks the black and white springer we have in our member’s area to help with this.There is a patch of white hair on the very top of the head and down the centre of the snout in the painting that does not appear on the photograph this definitely needs to be filled in (see red arrows).Also the distance between the eye and the top of the head needs to be increased; the shape of the head here is not accurate either and this needs to be addressed.Another small issue is with the area of black hair below the head it would help if this was changed (see Brown circle).
