How To Correct Over Application of Colour in Pastel Pencils

Keith has sent us over his Miniature Dachshund picture from our Art Course. He says:

Hi Colin. Photo attached of mini dachshund ear. I cannot seem to get this right. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks, Keith.

Miniature Dacshund in Pastel Over application of white-compressedKeith overdone the white application I would suggest that he erases the offending area using a putty eraser until sufficient white is removed then add a little grey as required.The alternative is to erase the whole ear completely and redo it. There is no way more colour could be added as it stands as the paper is saturated with pastel now.A putty eraser is excellent for taking off excess colour, see our video below to view it in action:
