Hare Pastel Painting Feedback

Bonny has sent me her painting of the Hare project and has asked for feedback plus any tips I can give her to improve the work. First off let me mention that this was Bonny’s first project and I think it is a remarkable achievement to produce something this good at the first try, I can’t wait to see more of her work.hare painting comparisonBonny has taken a photograph of her painting rather than a scanned picture and this has resulted in a dull finish which I am sure does not do the painting justice. Therefore a direct comparison to my original is not a true one. However there are a few tips I can give her that will improve the painting. First of the division between the background sky/grasses is too straight and if this was varied slightly it would improve the whole picture. The eye on the right is a little to wide and needs to be "squashed" slightly (see black arrow). The blue arrow shows the edge of the face with a line rather than a shaded line. Sometimes a line is unavoidable but in this case it could be tempered as I have shown on the original. As I have said this is a great piece of work and Bonny should be delighted with this first attempt.
